Improving Teaching and Communication Skills in the Classroom

Preparation:

The prospective participants will receive a list of materials (studies, books, articles, etc.) along with websites connected to the course content. Support information and detailed programme will be provided to the participants. Via e-mail a questionnaire will be sent in order to understand their needs, interests and expectations related to the subject of the course. Participants will be asked to prepare short Power-Point Presentation, showing their experience in that subject matter.

Objectives: 

To develop greater proficiency in:

  • Developing the Classroom Assessment Approach;
  • Understanding the Classroom Assessment Techniques and their implementation in the classroom;
  • Establishing the Foundations of Classroom Communication;
  • Realizing the Relationship Between Theory, Research, and Practice;
  • Teaching Diverse Students bewaring of their Cultural differences;
  • Appreciating and accommodating the similarities and differences among the students' cultures. Effective teachers of culturally diverse students acknowledge both individual and cultural differences enthusiastically and identify these differences in a positive manner. This positive identification creates a basis for the development of effective communication and instructional strategies. Social skills such as respect and cross-cultural understanding can be modeled, taught, prompted, and reinforced by the teacher;
  • Improving Students’ Listening Skills;
  • Improving Students’ Perception Skills;
  • Understanding the Functions of Verbal and Nonverbal Communication in the Classroom;
  • Applying Classroom Control;
  • Clarifying Advantages and Disadvantages of the Lecture Method;
  • Clarifying Advantages and Disadvantages of the Discussion Method;
  • Applying Storytelling as instructional strategy;
  • Improving the Questioning Skills of Teachers;
  • Learning about Teaching Methods that enhance Teacher Effectiveness;
  • Specifying clear lesson objectives and teaching directly to those objectives;

Follow-up:

            A mailing list of participants will be created after the course in order to keep in permanent contact with the trainers and between themselves, as long as to exchange ideas for future partnerships related to LLP. Self-evaluation materials will be provided. At the end of the course the participants will fulfill a questionnaire in order to get a feedback for the effectiveness of the course. They will be asked to present an action plan on the way they will apply the key learning

points at their professional workplace. A Facebook group will be formed for discussions and sharing of opinions and good practices after the training course.
